During the 2020 period, the OIC operations are being provided via virtual platforms such as Microsoft teams; Skype for Business and Zoom call for students and staff. All landlines have been forwarded to staff cell phones and will be answered during operational hours.
Services that have been paired down include accessible transport for staff with disabilities and carers remain on standby for students with disabilities and those with complex medical conditions.
Survivors are able to receive individual online counselling or join anonymous group counselling every Tuesday evening from 17h00-19h00. The new Survivor Support Officer, Yumna Seadat, joins the OIC team from Rape Crisis and is supporting survivors and ensuring that survivors receive constant communication during this time. Students with Disabilities who are currently in consultations and assessments with the Clinical Psychologist are able to continue their consultations online and these can be scheduled via an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Disability Service Carer Support staff will be supporting students with disabilities and complex medical conditions who are unable to travel while residing at UCT residences and private accommodation. Daily remote check-ins are scheduled with students to ensure that all their current psychosocial needs are taken care off.
For scheduled Inclusivity Survey feedback to the Deans and Executive Directors, these consultations will continue either via a virtual video conference and/or via actual workshop sessions. Nina Barnes from the OIC and/or Aephoria have been in contact with the relevant stakeholders in this regard.
